Skagit Valley Tulips 2015

We took a road trip to Skagit Valley to see all of the tulips blooming.  We were amazed at how many varieties and colors there were.  The gardens were beautiful and you could smell a slight flower aroma.  It was really neat to see.  Here are a few of the many pictures we took.  Can't wait to go back again next year.

Cole's first baseball practice 2015

Cole had his first baseball practice of the season today.  He is on the Seadogs this year.  He did really good and was excited that one of his friends from school is on his team.  Should be a good season.

Arts Day 2015

Yesterday was Arts Day at the boys school.  I volunteered for the day so I was able to sneak in and get some pictures.  Each kid picks 4 classes that they will attend.  Trevor picked pop up cards, art on computer, music inspired art (pictured below) and movement workshop.  Cole picked card making, tile painting, bottle art and pop up cards.  Both boys had a blast and said they wished every day was like that.  Not me, I am exhausted.  :)

Cole with his finished tile at tile painting.
Cole and his friend Lane at bottle art.  They turned them into bird feeders.
They are sad that arts day is over but excited for it next year.

Cole's class party

In Cole's class when there is a birthday, the birthday kid gets to bake and decorate cupcakes.  Cole has been talking about it for weeks.  He was so excited to make cupcakes for his friends.  He had baked the cupcakes earlier in the day but I got to be there to see him decorate.  He picked blue frosting with fish sprinkles and gummy worms.  He was a blue mess when he was done.

The kids sang to him and waited for him to take the first bite before they ate theirs.  It is fun to see the class parties because all the kids wear hats they made at the beginning of the year and the birthday kid gets a crown.
Happy Birthday Cole Bean.

Cole's Birthday Lunch

Since Cole had to go to school on his birthday I decided to pack him a special lunch.  I wrapped each item separately so he had to unwrap them during lunch.  He thought it was funny.  Mission accomplished!

Cole's 6th Birthday Party- Spy Training

We celebrated Cole's 6th birthday with a Spy party.  I decorated the dining room with caution tape, Investigation in progress tape, streamers and a table cloth with fingerprints and question marks.
Each kid had a file folder with their paperwork (word search, code training and memory game pages) and a pencil.
The middle of the table had a tray with various spy gear.  We used this for a memory game.
Instead of cake or cupcakes, Cole chose to have root beer floats.  It made it very easy.
For games we played pass the dynamite (like hot potato), target practice with Nerf guns and a outline of a man I made, laser beams, and bomb detonation.
The kids loved detonating (popping) the bombs.

While the kids were having their root beer floats there was a knock on the door and an envelope was delivered.  Inside was a flash drive with a message from the Spy Academy president.  He let us know that an evil man stole all the goody bags and attached them to a bomb.  If we didn't find the bomb and detonate it in time the goody bags would be destroyed.  The first clue led us to the tree house mailbox.
Clue #2 was on the door of the shed.
 Clue #3 on the trampoline.
Clue #4 in the tire swing.
Finally they found the bomb hidden in a cooler inside the wheelbarrow.  It was a piƱata shaped as a bomb.  The kids destroyed it and got  the treat inside which was the parts to make marshmallow shooters.  We put them together and handed out the goody bags.
The boys checking out the first clue.  Trevor is dressed as a bad guy and Cole is dressed as a spy.
Cole got lots of great gifts.

He loved having the kids sing Happy Birthday!  He was one happy little boy.

This was by far one of the craziest parties we have thrown.  The boys were all very excited and went through the activities very quickly.  Luckily we have a trampoline and tire swings to keep them busy.
