This past weekend we had Trevor's 9th birthday party. He chose Mad Scientist as the theme. We turned the garage into the lab and did most of the activities in there. It helped keep the mess contained which was super nice. We covered the walls and tables in black table clothes, hung some streamers and set up a display of spooky creations. The boys loved it.
Each boy had their own "lab tray" with all the stuff they needed for the experiments and some goodies to take home.
The test tubes of candy were a favorite.
We used a wire rack to store all the spooky bottles.
While everyone was arriving the boys made molecules with gum drops, marshmallows and some gummy square candies. Not sure if more was used to build or for snacking.
Once everyone arrived and their molecules were build we headed to the lab. We were greeted by the mad scientist. The boys all screamed. The loved walking into the dark lab.
We explained their equipment and got started with the first experiment.
We did magic marbles, oobleck, slime, egg in the bottle, fizzers, and elephants toothpaste. Some worked better then others.
After the experiments we went outside and did a couple of coke explosions and sang Happy Birthday. We then went in and decorated cupcakes. They chose the frosting and then loaded them up with nerds, gummy bears, skeleton and bone candies and sprinkles. By this time they had way too much sugar so we opened presents quickly and headed outside to burn some energy on the trampoline.
Trevor gave hugs to the kids for his gifts. He loved them all.
He had a great party. Thanks to all our friends for attending. It made a special day for our big boy.
